GOLDSBORO (AP) — North Carolina officials say they fired three employees and disciplined others in the death of a patient who was neglected more than 22 hours at a state-operated mental hospital. Bad news this morning for motorists headed toward Charlotte from South Carolina and southern Mecklenburg County on Interstate 77.
